Jim Badman, M.D.

Scientific Advisory and Medical Advisory Board Member


A tenured, experienced medical practitioner and certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Jim practiced family medicine for over 15 years. His special interests include healthy aging and preventive medicine. Jim regularly tests and treats mineral and vitamin deficiencies. Heading a very fruitful family practice within the Orlando, Florida area, Jim previously practiced at Bardmoor Family Care in Clearwater, Florida, as well as Florida and Physician Associates Family Practice in Orlando. Jim also served as Morton Plant Mease Hospital's Family Practice Chairman in Clearwater, Florida. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with Cum Laude Honors at the University of Central Florida, in Orlando, Jim received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of South Florida, in Tampa. Jim then completed his family practice residency at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Mark McKnight

Medical Advisory Board Member


With a strong background in mathematics, Mark Mcknight started working in the industry of natural products in 1993. Mark focused his attention in both Research and Development and Sales. Mark won a People's Choice Award for "Best Tasting Health Drink" early in his prestigious career. The Award was from a group of more than ten thousand Health Food Storeowners. Mark has previously launched hundreds of various natural products, marketed in more than 30 different countries across the globe. Mark is a current member of the Institute for Food Technologists (IFT) and the Natural Products Association (NPA). He graduated and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Brigham Young University.

Scott VanLue, M.D.

A family practice physician interested in exercise, functional medicine, nutrition and wellness applications, Dr. Scott VanLue, has an extensive medical career under his belt. Owning his very own family practice, he also became the consulting physician for both the NBA's Orlando Magic and WNBA's Orlando Miracle professional basketball players. He also became the consulting physician for the professional hockey players of ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears. Graduating with Honors, Scott got his Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Chemistry from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He then gained his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Oral Roberts University School of Medicine. Serving his residency, Scott chose University of South Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Scott VanLue has a Florida State Medical License. Additionally, he holds a license from the American Academy of Family Practice, as well as a Certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine.

Steve Talcott, Ph.D.

Steve Talcott is a certified, recognized expert in food processing analysis of botanicals, fruits and vegetables. He also continues to do research on appearance, food quality, natural benefits and tastes as impacted by natural compounds. His efforts have encouraged increased fruit and vegetable consumption through the positive association between plant-based phytochemicals and the part it plays in a healthy person’s lifestyle. The phytochemistry research Steve conducts centers on individual compounds and compound classes that are isolated and quantified for content and quality, not to mention, their part in health promotion during post-harvest, food processing, preservation and storage regimes.

Formerly a part of Silliker Analytical Laboratories, Dr. Talcott was previously a part of the esteemed University of Florida staff as an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry, before becoming a part of the faculty at Texas A&M University.

Susanne Talcott, Ph.D.

With a Molecular Nutrition Degree from the University of Florida, Dr. Susanne Talcott's overall research and study centers on assessing bioactive compounds found in fruits and vegetables, dietary supplements, as well as antioxidant fruit juices and other foodstuff. She examines its role in the prevention of disease and illness as well as its part in protecting a person's overall health. She accomplishes it through an integrative, translational, simplified research or "Bench to Bedside" method.

Additionally, Dr. Talcott is working on ways to determine and improve the health benefits of grapes, as well as wine, collaborating with the Texas Wine and Grape Industry.

Okezie I. Aruoma, Ph.D.

Receiving his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and MSc in Biopharmacy from King's College in London, Dr. Aruoma received his DSc in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Sussex. He also received an MBA Degree in Business Administration from the University of Warwick Business School. Dr. Arouma is a Fellow at the American College of Nutrition as well as a Chartered Scientist of the Science Council, UK. He is currently part of the Institute of UK's Institute of Directors.

Bernie Landes

Scientific Advisory Board Member


The President of Nutritional Products Consulting Group, Bernie Landes has a distinguished reputation within the nutritional products trade and industry that spans nearly 40 years. Being at the forefront of the leading growth drivers within both the dietary supplements and functional food sectors, Bernie has held senior leadership and strategy, not to mention science and regulatory affair roles in the past. Bernie helped industry-leading companies such as:

  • Alacer Corp (Emergen-C)
  • Health Valley Foods (Oat Bran, Fat-Free, and Organic foods)
  • Zila Nutraceuticals (Ester-C).

He also served as part of the Executive Committee with the National Nutritional Foods Association discussion, mediation and approval of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. Bernie was involved in the development and formation of the vital points of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990.
